The Beauty of Concrete Architectural Design

4 March 2008

As a child Robert Keaton’s favorite thing to do was visit his grandparent’s house. Their house contained extensive concrete architectural construction and landscaping. From the concrete fence surrounding the land and home to the counter tops in the kitchen, which were made of decorative concrete. The concrete architecture was beautiful to Robert. He would spend hours on end walking the grounds. Taking in the way concrete was used. The driveway was made of paving concrete (or paving stones) in earth tone colors which were square in shape. The driveway was lined on both sides with concrete bollards. These concrete bollards were useful because they were lighted and illuminated the driveway at night. The front of the house exhibited tall concrete columns, giving the house an air of grandeur. The house itself was constructed with large concrete blocks. There was an indoor garden with varying plants and trees in decorative bollards. These garden bollards varied in size, shape and color. The floor in the indoor garden was made of concrete sandstone. Upon exiting the indoor garden you took the concrete stairs to the outdoor garden and patio area. The patio was made of concrete sandstone just like the floor in the indoor garden area. There were small decorative concrete benches and tables on the patio. Leading away from the patio area was a walkway made of concrete stones. The walkway was made of oval stones lined by rectangular stones. The walkway was lined with lighted concrete bollards as well. To the right of the walkway was a pond with a large concrete fountain in the middle. The floor of the pond was made of concrete rock in varying sizes and colors. At the end of the walkway was a gazebo made of concrete. It had tall concrete columns that held up a concrete arch way with a decorative concrete keystone at the apex of the ceiling. There were decorative bollards which contained flowering plants spaced throughout the gazebo as well as lighted concrete bollards with round concrete slabs on top to form attractive tables. Robert loved the concrete architectural designs of this house so much he decided that when he grew up he wanted to work with concrete architecture. Today Robert is widely known for his work and is considered a master of his trade. He has built several houses that boast extensive concrete construction and landscaping. Robert also designs and builds commercial properties. Aside from his construction business Robert owns and operates a security business. His best selling security products are bollards. His company offers a wide variety of bollard designs that are appealing and practical. Concrete bollards, timber bollards and steel bollards, just to name a few. These bollards are often removable when used for security purposes. While locked in place they prevent unauthorized vehicles from entering an area, but can be removed to allow authorized vehicles.
