Decorating in Four styles

Written on 10 December 2007 by

I was given a task to redecorate four rooms with different motifs. Shabby Chic, Southwestern, Modern, and Traditional. Unfortunatley, I did have a budget to work within, and managed to stay in it on each room. I changed four basic parts of the room: the floor, color, windows, and room arrangement. This is was a fun and challenging task.

In the Shabby Chic room, I went with hardwood floors. They were dark, wide planks, and a little distressed looking. The wall color was an antique white. Pale pink shutters adorned the windows, and these were the first thing people commented on when they stepped into the room. I had three main pieces to work with. The sleigh bed was a dark expresso finish, and the duvet I chose was light yellow and white striped. It had pink and white lace on the bottom. With the pillows and beautiful white quilt at the end of the bed, it was amazing! A white bench sat at the end of the bed, and a distressed pink armoire sat in a corner. It turned out incredible.

The southwestern room was laced in brown leather, animal prints, and red accents. The floor was a large saltillo tile. The windows were covered in wooden blinds. I chose a camel color for the walls, that really complimented the tile, and made the furniture pop out. The oversized l-shape couch is dark brown leather couch set in the middle of the room. I placed a giraffe print, and red western style pillows on the couch. The two red chairs were also focal points, and there were leather and animal print pillows as well.

The modern room was so much fun! I loved using straight lines, lots of black, and a few bold colors. I chose a crazy orange for the walls. At first, I almost cried when I saw them. But after adding a few touches, I fell in love with it. For the windows, I chose white roman shades. I chose a white hardwood floor that is shiny an very contemporary looking. The dining table is black framed with a glass square top. It is decorated with orange and gray placesettings. The couch is black leather, with bright multicolored patterned pillows. The coffee table matches the dining table and has a large bowl of faux oranges on it. This room will make you want to dance!

The last room was a traditional classic motif. For this room, I chose a very light and neutral tan paint. The floor is a medium oak hardwood. I used both venetian blinds and simple shades in the room because it was a very large room. The couch was a green and tan paisley patterned overstuffed straight couch. I complimented it with two solid green and one striped pillow. The sofa table matched the coffee table, both a dark wood. This room turned out very pleasing to the eye.

It is amazing what a few changes make to a room. I learned a lot, and had so much fun creating these different styles.

Web-conferencing – The Only Way to Talk Face To Face across Oceans

Written on 30 October 2007 by

Efficient communication assumes extra significance in view of offloading and outsourcing which has become a norm in today’s boundary-less world of multinational companies.
As a first step, one has to identify a service provider who’s able to offer a bouquet of services at a very reasonable rate.
No meeting is ever complete without Power Point presentations. Service providers usually provide web conferencing facility free with every conference call. If you are in a business related to Accounting, Banking, Consulting, Insurance, Training or Public Relations, to name just a few, you know pretty well that no meeting can be conducted without related tabular and graphical presentations.
All you require is a PC working in Windows environment and a modem with minimum speed of 56 kbps. As a Host you have the option to control the volume and disconnect any participant or invite a new Guest.
But day to day discussions can easily be managed through the reservationless option of teleconferencing. This facility is automatically set up the moment one signs up with a service provider. You will immediately be provided with a Host Code, a toll-free Dial-in-number and a Guest Code.
As a Host inform the participants the date and time of the meeting and give each one them the Guest Code. Since the system is reservationless, call the Dial-In number and then enter your Host code followed by the # sign on your telephone keypad and your conference call is ready to be conducted.
The items transacted in any business meeting need to be recorded in the form of Minutes. This serves as a future reference and lends a fair amount of transparency in management. Service providers have kept this aspect in mind and the Host can record the entire meeting at the flick of a button. If required, CDs of the entire meeting should also supplied at nominal charges.
While a meeting is in progress you might need to exchange a private note with a participant. Please ensure that your Service Provider has the facility of exchanging private messages between participants while a teleconference is in progress.
In these days of cut-throat competition, the most cost effective method of long distance multilateral communication is conference calls.
When the requirement is to interact with fewer people, automated service – commonly referred as reservationless, is preferable, but when the need is to communicate with more than 125 persons simultaneously, it’s better to take assistance of live operators.
This facility comes very handy when a message has to be passed on to all the employees simultaneously or during any intercontinental product launch.
Generally every service provider offers toll free conference call facility, but before settling on a particular provider, ensure that you are provided the facility of operator assisted conference calls too.
So, before you select a Service Provider, confirm all these facilities and don’t forget to compare the rates and reliability.

European Halloween Masquerades

Written on 20 September 2007 by

Superstitions prevail over wisdom of humanity the world over and worshipping the ancestors, believed to be present as spirits is common in every country. In European countries, this notion that is deeply rooted and safeguarding from evil spirits that haunt and possess innocent persons is considered to be the root-cause of Halloween celebrations, wearing halloween masks .

The Celts in the medieval age believed that by dancing around a bone-fire throughout the night of October 31st every year, which is the end of their bright and sunny summer season and entering into gloomy and dark winter ahead starting from 1st November, they are surely to cast out those devilish spirits. To escape from the clutches of these evil spirits, they disguised themselves so that the spirits can not identify them as human beings and wore as costumes animal skins and heads as masques to terrify the ghosts away. From then on, the habit of wearing Halloween masks designed awfully like ghosts, demons and beasts of wildest dreams by adults and children alike has grown up manifold.

The children have their own fancy for various types of masks as playthings and plan well ahead of the Halloween celebrations as how to disguise themselves.
Disguising in different get-ups to play evil characters of fantasy on stage and in the celluloid media obliged adults also to go in for Halloween masks in assorted shapes, sizes and colors. Added to this is the more realistic and engrossed with day-to-day life characters of television, where the artists perform wearing not only horror but also vampire masks and clown mask to amused the masses. Thus the demand for masks in countries of Europe grew largely so as to make it a separate industry. The changing needs of modern times, paved the way for innovative methods and materials for manufacturing a variety of masks.

Manufacturers of SPFX Masks, being the pioneers in the industry developed latest technology of silicon masks, whereby the conservative foam latex and slip latex masks were given a go-bye. The high-quality silicon made masks for a variety of uses are quite natural to the skin, easy to wear and dismantle and have already won the appreciation of celebrity artists of both the small and big screens. The masks are certified to be artifacts; hand made individually with uttermost love and protection as show pieces through out the year. By wearing these masks the artists are relieved of the strain and hours of time spent patiently in wearing different get-ups in the olden days and feel very comfortable now. SPFX masks can be ordered for any occasion, in several fashions, styles, trend arts and the customer gets fulfillment by doing so.

Conference calls - have made the world small

Written on 16 September 2007 by

With the passage of time, life is becoming more and more hectic and busy. Teenagers are busy partying, children are busy with friends, and Businessmen are busy with their business thinking how to improve it and spread it world wide and neither of them has any time to stay in touch. Forget about staying in touch with others, People don’t have time for themselves even! However, the advancement of technology has solved everyone’s problems to a great extent.
In this busy, fast and competitive world, the lost link is effective communication, both in between and with outside world at large, for a businessman for expansion, teenager to know and participate in the latest fashions and recreation unique to their age, child for its own world of playing games all by itself or with their friends elsewhere. Hence, for this all of us need a fast, easy and efficient communication method, and the least expensive way at that.
With the advancement in technology, it has comparatively become much easier for all of us to stay in touch with anyone we want even if they are continents away. Not only this! Through conference calls we can now be in touch with not only one but a group of people all at the same time without ever moving an inch from their respective places!
There are mainly three types of conferencing :
Audio, Video and web conferencing
The most renowned form of calling in conference is the audio conferencing. Being the oldest method, everyone is comfortable using the services of audio conferencing. Almost every one of us is aware of this technology and can use it comfortably and effectively.
With the advent of internet & cellular technology, we have almost now become dependant or rather addicted on the lifeless gadgets like mobile phones. Hardly anyone in today’s life can imagine a life without them! All you need for audio conferencing is a phone and a connection. That’s all!
In audio conferencing only the voice is audible but what if we want to see the other person’s expressions and images as well? Here comes the most advanced technology into use: video conferencing, the second type of conference calls. Well, video conferencing is probably the most expensive procedure and only big companies can afford to use them. Although with advancement in technology and the competition, the cost has come down considerably but still it proves to be the most expensive and the most difficult to manage.
To arrange a video conference, you need to have a television and a camera at all users’ ends as that will allow exchange of images at both the ends(of course with the speed depending upon the capability of connection). With video conferencing you can conduct meetings worldwide, even sitting right at your office. In-spite of being very expensive and difficulty in requiring numerous equipments, video conferencing is ideal for getting your business meetings in place.
web conferencing is the last but is the most renowned form of conference call. It is a complete mix of all the advantages of audio and video conferencing. The biggest advantage of web conferencing is that you can easily send text, files, and visual graphics within seconds to make the purpose of the video conferencing more fruitful. Web cams are used in web conferencing to telecast the image. In the light of the foregoing, it can be seen that web-conferencing is the best suited technology for everyone for easy, fast and accurate communication at a very negligible cost.

So what are you waiting for? Get the conferencing facility of your choice and get ready to conquer time and distance!

Furniture Suitable for Offices

Written on 16 September 2007 by

It is essential to have proper furniture in an office. Otherwise productivity of the employees will start going down steadily. You may be wondering when you have a proper remuneration plan in place and when you treat your employees very well, how furniture could cause a downslide of productivity.
Modern management gurus lay a great deal of emphasis on office ambience. If the general environment of the office is such that people feel dull and spiritless the moment they come in through the front door, you can be very sure that productivity will also head south! One of the most potent tools to improve the ambience in the office is office furniture. After all, an employee spends maximum time at his workplace surrounded by these, so if they are bright and useful the ambience will automatically become conducive to greater efficiency.
If you have decided to replace your office furniture, what should you replace first? It goes without saying that office chairs are the first piece of furniture which deserve a close and critical examination. There are several aspects of office chairs which should be looked into and if the existing ones do not pass that stringent scrutiny, they should be replaced forthwith. It is important that the office is decked up with ergonomically designed chairs that reduce fatigue and physical discomfort. Employees utilize a major part of their work hours sitting in them. So, if management is serious about getting quality output from its employees, it should ensure that they do not leave office with a nagging back pain or a stiff neck.
Office chairs come in various sizes, shapes, colors and designs. The chairs should be chosen in such a way that they best suit the type of work done in a particular department. For example the chairs in the reception should be bright, comfortable and durable. These chairs bear a lot of burden during the whole day and possibly come in for some rough and inconsiderate handling too. These chairs should unmistakably give the impression that your company means business and is very professional in its approach towards all aspects of commercial transactions.
The chairs in a BPO or a call centre should be designed in such a way that the employees don’t feel tired and fatigued while carrying out their monotonous and often abusive jobs. As it is they get tired doing night shifts. On top of that if they can not sit comfortably while handling overseas calls, it would be no surprise if the labor turnover rate touches new heights!
The conference rooms are meant for holding seminars, conferences and group discussions only. The chairs placed in that room should be different from the chairs placed in workstations throughout the office. Some companies prefer to have in their conference rooms those molded chairs which have foldable tables attached to armrests. This is a very novel idea. It motivates employees to take notes without having to constantly search for a suitable resting place for their laptops! Thus these seminars and workshops automatically start having a more productive impact on overall performance levels of employees.
The most important chair in the office is that of the CEO. The chair should automatically convey an impression of power, authority and confidence. A high backed well upholstered chair in soft leather can achieve all this without much of a problem. In fact, the power and authority wielded by a person can be gauged from the type of chair he sits on. No wonder the expression ’seat of authority’ carries so much significance!
For those who work from home the choice of home office furniture is a very crucial decision which goes a long way to determine productivity and efficiency in the long run. You don’t have the company to foot the bills for those fancy and ostentatious chairs where you had been seating when you were working for others. Now, every penny spent on furniture comes from your pocket. So, go for those moderately priced ones which guarantee comfort and durability. Prefer those which have multiple use and can be equally comfortable while using the computer or jotting down an important idea on paper.

Writings On the Sunken Island

Written on 31 August 2007 by

The mystery of a drowned continent has stimulated wonder among students of the unknown and attracted history-buffs for over two millennia. There are more theories about what that ancient civilization entailed and how the remains can be recovered than practically any other story of a Golden Age. The legend of a genius race which preceded ours has endured precisely because it holds so much meaning to the modern mind.

New Age book aficionados are able to choose from a vast array of volumes regarding the enigma of Atlantis, both non-fiction and a more fantastic angle. The subject is frequently associated with reincarnation, and is part of the mythos of Awakening prophecy.

Plato, student of Socrates, originally wrote chronicling a mythical continent, which he referred to as Atlantis, about twenty-four hundred years ago. According to Plato, the undersea continent lay “beyond the pillars of Hercules” and thrived until over one hundred centuries before his time.

American mystic Edgar Cayce conceived of Atlantis as a a huge expanse, about the scale of Australia. According to the medium’s dynamic vision, the Atlanteans were gifted with many advanced psychic abilities and tools, and gave rise to the peculiarly similar solar-worshipping civilizations of the ancient Egyptians and the Empires of native America.

Hypotheses regarding the position of Atlantis stretch from the coast of India to the Carribbean, though the most intriguing candidates, as might be expected, are Mediterranean islands, particularly the Azores and Malta.

We may never know what marvels the Atlanteans mastered, nonetheless we’d be foolish to doubt: human kind has achieved high levels of advancement, before the earliest hint of what we generally think of as the origin of culture.

Marketing and Selling on Internet

Great HOT-UNIQUE Website Business’s for sale on auction at Ebay starting at just $1 no reserve.

Marketing on the Internet involves online advertising to reach out to potential customers. It requires creativity like designing, development and technical aspects like marketing and advertising. Affiliate marketing, email marketing, search engine marketing and interactive advertising are all different facets of Internet marketing. It also includes sales, public relations, information management and customer service. Ever since the advent of Internet, it is widely used for all kind of purposes. Among the advantages of Internet, some helps in doing business, shopping, etc, from the comfort of the house. According to a research, a quarter of the Internet users shop online. It has also helped grow electronic commerce and Internet marketing is a part of electronic commerce.

Direct marketing techniques like radio and television commercials, mails, and newsletters are the inspirations for Internet marketing, which involves direct response marketing strategies and is rapidly growing. Business-to-business, also known as B2B, and business-to-consumer, also known as B2C, are the two business models to which Internet marketing can be linked. B2C companies were the first to start when Internet marketing originated. They are companies that sell directly to the customers. B2B companies are meant to do business with each other.

Websites built for Internet marketing are slightly different than others. There are peer-to-peer modeled websites which are used to exchange products and services between each other. Other is name-your-price, where the customers have to specify their price range that they can spend and select products that fall in that price range. Priceline.com is an example of such a website. Amazon.com is a website which is based on find-the-best-price model, where customers can find the lowest prices. Last are online auctions sites, where items are bid. Ebay.com is an example.

The companies who use Internet marketing are at an advantage. They don’t need to put in huge amounts of energy and time in Internet Marketing like other traditional methods. With the help of only few resources national and international markets can be reached. Because of very low investment, even small businesses are turning to online marketing. Websites and blogs have been developed for this purpose. Internet marketing is advantageous in the sense that the data is easily available on the Internet. Newsletters can be directly sent to customers and if it doesn’t contain the information they are looking for, they can search for information about the product online, make a decision and purchase it online itself.

One of the factors that hinder the growth of online marketing is delayed loading of the page. The web pages that take a lot of time to download test the patience of the consumer. To add to that, if the businesses design complex web pages with lots of graphics and animations, it will slow down the speed even more. Another minus point of online marketing is that the customers cannot feel, taste, smell or try products in order to make a good decision. To over come this, some of the online stores have created liberal return policies with the help of which the customer satisfaction is guaranteed.

Another biggest threat of online shopping is identity theft. Paying online using credit cards, e-checks are susceptible to hackers and information can be stolen and used. Many hackers and websites have been caught who were involved in buying and selling of personal information. Most of the websites have taken measures and incorporated good security on their websites. One of the best methods is encryption. When the data is being transferred between two computers; there is a possibility of a hacker intercepting it. So the data is changed by applying some encryption algorithm and is sent through the network and upon receiving, the decryption algorithm is applied to bring back the data to its original form.

Online selling is influencing all kinds of businesses like banking, advertising, music, etc. Instead of going to a store for buying cassettes and CDs, music can be bought online. Bank transactions like depositing, withdrawing, transferring funds, and paying bills are all performed online. Billions of dollars are invested every year in online advertising alone.

Buying a Tractor? Know Your Options.

Written on 8 August 2007 by

If you’re looking for a versatile vehicle for heavy-duty towing and hauling jobs on a farm, ranch, or other large property, you can’t beat a dependable tractor. A variety of tractor models are currently on the market, and which kind you choose will depend on the types of tasks you plan to used it for.

For mowing lawns, transporting yard waste, and even performing as a snow plow with a shovel attachment, a small lawn tractor is the ideal choice. In addition to being equipped with cutting blades, many of these tractors can be outfitted with towing and pushing attachments for additional duties. You may also see them advertised as garden tractors as well as lawn tractors, and the two terms are usually interchangeable.

Larger jobs require larger tractors, and if you’re equipping a farm or ranch you’ll want a bigger tractor model for hauling, plowing, landscaping, and harvesting duties. While lawn tractors are usually gasoline powered, many models intended for industrial or agricultural use are diesel tractors. So make sure you know which kind you’re getting before purchasing, particularly if you have a fuel preference at your facility.

Whatever type of tractor you’re in the market for, you’ll have no problem finding reputable tractor suppliers online. If you’re looking to save money, check out the used tractor listings on eBay, or compare multiple dealer offers from a procurement site such as BuyerZone. With the web at your fingertips, your next tractor is just a few clicks away!
